All my pottery is handmade on the potters wheel or using slabs or coils. The clay is a durable stoneware and so is suitable for table ware, food service and gifting! I use a process called sgrafitto which translates as scratching into the clay. These florals are made by brushing or banding on slip – in this case black – letting it set up a little and then carving away the space to reveal the flower – which is the white clay revealed underneath the slip. All my work is inspired by the local flora and fauna of this area and of course the ocean and all its creatures.
