Tea Pot with Gingko Design

Description

This sweet little tea pot is perfect for two people and holds 2-3 cups of tea.  This stoneware pot is finished with a gingko design from an underglaze transfer and covered in a white food safe glaze.

It’s a perfect addition to your counter display of pottery and is accented well with the gingko teapot in the same finish.

Gingko Biloba or Maidenhair, is one of the oldest living tree species and is known for its antioxidant properties.   It’s leaves start out green and slowly change to golden-yellow in the fall.  It a species native to China, but can grow in certain north american climates as well.

Tea time is the best way to relax, refuel and reenergize.  It’s a special time in the day for me because tea time meant a break from what we were doing to socialize, connect as a family and enjoy speculaas cookies, boterkoek or a stoopwafel.

These cookies need to rest on your cup of tea in order to soften and melt a bit before breaking in 1/2.  Being of Dutch decent, it’s a ritual I remember fondly during my younger years and kept on doing with my own children.  It usually corresponded with coming home from school and having tea and a snack.  Sometimes these little rituals in the day are good to carry on and can add valuable family time.
